The work consisted of the reconstruction of approximately 2.67 miles of roadway which included the removal and disposal of existing roadway surfacing, associated earthwork/grading for subgrade preparation, grading of new roadside retention basins on some lengths of roadway, construction of new pavement section, signing and striping of roadways, adjustment of utilities where necessary, removal/abandonment and replacement of drainage culverts/headwalls, replacement of irrigation facilities, installation of wire fence, and construction of sidewalk where indicated. This project also consisted of installation of 2,800 feet of 8-inch PVC waterline; which included the installation of waterline, valves, boxes/cover, meters, fire hydrants, connections to existing lines, and other incidental work. The waterline construction also included the slurry fill abandonment of the existing asbestos cement water pipe and, in certain instances, the removal of the existing water pipe. The worked performed allowed for local access to residences, churches, and cemetery, as well as limited downtime for waterline service connections.
